Who is Eligible to Take the Basic ECG Board Certification Exam?
This Exam is open only to Cardiac Monitor Technicians, Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Medical students in any corner of the globe. If you are a licensed professional, you are required to provide your license number and the state your license was issued in, on your Application.
Requirements to take the Cardiovascular Nursing Level I Board Certification Exam?
Knowledge is the Key Requirement. CEs are not required to sit for the exam, however 15 CEs in Cardiology will be required for the Recertification process every three years.

Application for the Exam
Exam Application - To apply for the Exam, fill out the Application in this link. Please wait for approval from the ABCM in the form of an Email. This process should not take longer than a week unless there are extenuating circumstances beyond our control. Even though there is a payment link below to purchase your exam, please do not make the purchase until you have been approved for your Exam.
After you Submit your application, providing it is complete, you will receive an email from the ABCM instructing you to login and pay for your exam and then you will receive your Testing voucher letter, containing your Exam Candidate ID number; save this number. You will be instructed in the letter to click on Exam Scheduler to be directed to set up your Exam date and time. Please note that there is a three day delay from the date you sign up, till you can take the Exam.

When and Where Can You Take the Exam?
You may test Online or at a designated Testing site in your area. Please note that the fee for Testing sites will cost an additional $50 over the fee for online testing.
Computer Requirements for the Exam:
Check to see if your Computer has a built in Webcam, most do. If not, you may purchase a $10-$15 external Webcam and connect it to your computer. If you prefer to take the Exam at a testing site, the fee will be higher than if taking it online.
Which Browser Should you use:
Try not to use the Internet Explorer to access the Exam. If you have Firefox or Google Chrome, use one of them to log in as Microsoft no longer supports the Internet Explorer.

There are 37 questions in the online Basic ECG Board Certification Exam.
How Much Time is Allowed for the Exam?
90 minutes; the an average time spent by examinees is 1 hour.
What is the Passing Score for the Exam?
A score of 70% is required to pass the Exam.
What to do when you receive the Exam results?
You will receive an email shortly after completing and submitting your exam with your pass/fail statement and a final score. You will be able to print this document. As soon as you receive your results, please forward your Exam results to Jennifer Ragan (Assistant Exam Director) at email@example.com. She will process your Certification and send you both an electronic copy of your Certificate and a hard copy in the mail along with your Certification award lapel pin.
What if you don't Pass the Exam the first try?
You will be allowed to take it a second time for a fee of $75. After that you will have to pay the full fee for your third try. There are no restrictions as to how many times you may take the Exam.
