Who is Eligible to Take the Basic ECG Board Certification Exam?
This Exam is open only to Cardiac Monitor Technicians, Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Medical students in any corner of the globe. If you are a licensed professional, you are required to provide your license number and the state your license was issued in, on your Application.
Requirements to take the Basic ECG Board Certification Exam?
Knowledge is the Key Requirement. CEs are not required to sit for the exam, however 15 CEs in Cardiology will be required for the Recertification process every three years.

Contact our director at firstname.lastname@example.org to obtain Group Rates. There is a six month time frame for your Exam candidates to take the Exam online after the bulk seats are purchased. If an exam candidate fails the exam, they may take it a second time for a fee of $75.
How to prepare for the Exam?

Application for the Exam
Exam Application - To apply for the Basic Exam, follow this Exam Application link, complete and submit the Application and wait for approval; you could be taking your Exam within a week or two of your application. Once we approve your application you will then make your payment and set up your exam with our Exam Scheduler 3 days after the date you sign up (we do not provide same day service).
After you submit your application, you will receive an email letting you know if you have been approved for the Basic ECG Exam by our Assistant Exam Director, Jen Ragan. You will then be emailed instructions on how make your payment and access our Exam Scheduler online. The application process may take from 1-5 business days depending upon daily volume, which day of the week you summit the application, and how complete it is.

When and Where Can You Take the Basic ECG Exam?
You may test Online or at a designated Testing site in your area. Please note that the fee for Testing sites will cost an additional $50 over the fee for online testing.
Computer Requirements for the Basic ECG Exam:
Check to see if your Computer has a built in Webcam, most do. If not, you may purchase a $10-$15 external Webcam and connect it to your computer. If you prefer to take the Exam at a testing site, the fee will be higher than if taking it online.
Which Browser Should you use:
Try not to use the Internet Explorer to access the Exam. If you have Firefox or Google Chrome, use one of them to log in as Microsoft no longer supports the Internet Explorer.

There are 37 questions in the online Basic ECG Board Certification Exam.
How Much Time is Allowed for the Basic ECG Exam?
90 minutes; the an average time spent by examinees is 1 hour.
What is the Passing Score for the Basic ECG Exam?
A score of 70% is required to pass the Exam.
What to do when you receive the Basic ECG Exam results?
You will receive an email shortly after completing and submitting your exam with your pass/fail statement and a final score. You will be able to print this document. As soon as you receive your results, please forward your Exam results to Jennifer Ragan (Assistant Exam Director) at firstname.lastname@example.org. She will process your Certification and send you both an electronic copy of your Certificate and a hard copy in the mail along with your Certification award lapel pin.
What if you don't Pass the Basic ECG Exam the first try?
You will be allowed to take it a second time for a fee of $75. After that you will have to pay the full fee for your third try. There are no restrictions as to how many times you may take the Exam.
